LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales

Luke Skywalker and the Rebel Alliance have defeated the Empire by destroying the Second Death Star, but celebrations are cut short when a mysterious hooded figure steals Admiral Ackbar's ship with R2-D2 inside as an unwitting hostage! As C-3PO and the rest of the Rebels give chase across the galaxy, he recounts the many tales of the Rebels and their great adventures that led to the conflict between the Jedi and the Sith, the formation of the Empire, and their search for a new hope.

LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales (2015) is a United States animated family comedy series produced for Disney XD, a single-season run of five roughly 24-minute episodes. Told in brick-built lego animation, it follows C-3PO as he narrates the Rebel Alliance's earlier adventures while a mysterious hooded figure steals Admiral Ackbar's ship with R2-D2 aboard as a hostage. Anthony Daniels voices C-3PO, and Tom Kane lends his voice to the narrator and to Yoda. The engine of the series is a playful chase across the galaxy, interleaved with episodic flashbacks in which the droids and Rebels recall the conflicts between Jedi and Sith and the rise of the Empire. Each episode blends slapstick and gentle parody with affectionate nods to the saga's mythology, keeping the tone light, cheerful and accessible for young viewers. Its lo-fi plastic-brick look gives familiar galactic battles a toy-box charm. Fans of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Lego Movie and The Freemaker Adventures will find a similar blend of franchise nostalgia and family-friendly humor, in a short, easy-to-watch format.

Audience reception is modestly positive, with viewers finding this brief LEGO take on the Star Wars saga playful and family friendly despite a small rating pool.
