Myriad Colors Phantom World (2016) is a Japanese anime series produced by Kyoto Animation and broadcast on TOKYO MX. Set in a near future where ghosts and monsters called phantoms appear from human imagination, it follows first year student Haruhiko Ichijo (Hiro Shimono) at Hosea Academy, who is drawn into a circle of fellow students with unusual abilities. His upperclassman Mai Kawakami (Sumire Uesaka) wields the Spirit of Five Elements, Reina Izumi (Saori Hayami) is a Phantom Eater, and the solitary Koito Minase (Maaya Uchida) fights phantoms alone. The engine of the thirteen episodes is the tension between everyday high school life, with its club activities, friendships and small rivalries, and the sudden eruption of supernatural combat that threatens it. Episodes mix playful slice of life scenes with martial arts action and monster battles, building toward a revelation about the nature of this world. The tone is light and warm with moments of unease, and the series sits within the shonen-leaning anime tradition, its single season a complete, contained run. Fans of High School DxD, Rosario + Vampire and Blood Blockade Battlefront will find resonance in its blend of school comedy, fantasy action and ensemble charm.

Audience reception is mixed-to-negative, with viewers rating the series modestly for its blend of school life and supernatural conflict.
