Legend of the Seeker

The adventures of woodsman Richard Cypher, who discovers that he was born to fulfill a prophecy of becoming a guardian hero to oppressed people. With the help of a mysterious woman named Kahlan and a wise old wizard named Zedd, he must stop a ruthless and bloodthirsty tyrant from unleashing an ancient evil and enslaving the world.

Legend of the Seeker (2008-2010) is an American syndicated fantasy adventure series created by Sam Raimi and Terry Goodkind, adapted from Goodkind's Sword of Truth novels. Craig Horner plays Richard Cypher, a woodsman who learns he was born to become a guardian hero for oppressed people. He is joined by the mysterious Kahlan Amnell (Bridget Regan) and the wise wizard Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander (Bruce Spence), while Craig Parker plays the ruthless tyrant Darken Rahl, who seeks an ancient evil to enslave the world. Over two seasons totaling 44 episodes, the show is built from weekly episodic quests, with sword fights, magical spectacle, and clear-cut confrontations between hero and villain driving each outing. The setting is a mythic invented fantasy realm rendered with a sincere, earnest tone that embraces the classic tropes of high fantasy. Its episodic yet arc-driven shape makes it an accessible showcase for prophecy, destiny, and courage in the face of tyranny. Fans of Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys will find the same syndicated adventure energy and heroic earnestness here, and viewers drawn to the broader Sword of Truth world will recognize its core themes. The series was canceled after two seasons with its larger story left unfinished, but its second season was well received by audiences for its momentum and charm.

Viewers praise Legend of the Seeker as a sincere, enjoyable sword-and-sorcery adventure with strong fantasy spectacle, with the second season rated notably higher than the first.
