Overview
Insecure bank clerk Stanley Ipkiss uses an ancient mask to gain superpowers while taking on the mischievous and cartoonish, but heroic and good-hearted personality of The Mask
The Mask: Animated Series (1995-1997) is an American animated superhero comedy created by Steve Roberts, Alex Van and Dean Stefan and broadcast on CBS and in syndication. Insecure bank clerk Stanley Ipkiss, voiced by Rob Paulsen, discovers an ancient mask that transforms him into The Mask, a mischievous, rubber-limbed hero with a good heart. Stanley's wants are simple: keep his timid life intact and win the respect of those around him. The mask's chaotic personality keeps tearing that plan apart. Each episode pairs a standalone comic adventure with exaggerated slapstick, cartoon-physics stunts and playful clashes with the police, notably Lieutenant Kellaway and Detective Doyle, while his loyal sidekick Milo, voiced by Frank Welker, keeps him grounded. The tone is breezy, zany and warmly comic, full of wisecracks and gleeful mayhem. The series runs three seasons across fifty-four episodes, a one-continuing-world format where each story stands on its own. Its Saturday-morning energy and kid-friendly heroics will appeal to fans of Batman: The Animated Series, Spider-Man: The Animated Series and Earthworm Jim, and to anyone craving a lighthearted superhero romp.
